Early Intervention into parenting : fostering development of children through educating parents

Abstract

This project is designed to provide an awareness-raising campaign and education for parents in rural and resource-deprived urban communities in Kyrgyzstan in the sphere of early childhood development (1-7 years old), to train parents to foster the cognitive, socioemotional and personal development of children, as well as to develop and publish a manual for an early intervention program, to educate and train psychology students in the field of social work, and to carry out research on the long-term mental-health effects of the disappearance of Soviet-era state-supported early childhood development programs.
