Abstract: | This paper studies the role of the European Union in the integration of the Mediterranean Region. It emphasizes the necessity of integration to achieve development and mutual benefit in the Mediterranean. With the increasing migration from North Africa through the Mediterranean and the instabilities in the East, i.e. the Arab-Israeli conflict, the Southern neighborhood has become an area of strategic importance to EU‟s security. |
