Abstract: The concept of mediation is very new for Kyrgyzstan and it does not have a universally agreed definition. Since 2010 the interest for mediation as a tool for conflict resolution increased in the country. This research aims to contribute to the existing study of mediation process through examining the case of interethnic conflict in Maevka village in 2010. Although the case of Maevka does not complement the major requirements of mediation process, it succeeded in its implementation. It is a positive starting point to the aspiring practice of mediation in Kyrgyzstan.
