The author of the article puts an emphasis on the analysis and specificity of the geopolitical importance of Central Asia. Since the XIX century the region entered in sight of world powers, and in the XXI century it retains its originality, and, hence, continues to play a powerful role in foreign policy of some states both on the regional and international levels. The author has tried to reveal the most general aims of the states interested in the region, relying on concepts of the first British and Russian geopoliticians who characterised favourable geopolitical position and advantages of the Central-Asian region.en_US
